As I continue to distill data from my mailing list builders, I keeping coming back with more analysis. This time I am talking about open rates for mailing list builders. People often ask me how easy it is to get people to open your emails once you get them on your list.

After all, getting a big list is one thing, but if you can't convert any into readers, then what's the point, right?

I've gotten plenty of dead lists before, and it's not a fun process, because then you are paying for a lot more subscribers, but you aren't getting any traction with them. One thing about ML builders is that you get a lot of...well, I call them freebie chasers.

They are people who sign up for the freebie and then never open again...unless they win. They join hundreds of giveaways with the hope of winning one of them, and they scroll through their email for those email, but never open anything else. Those people won't ever open your emails, and they certainly won't convert into readers, at least not at scale.
