The story of my second publishing contract.
After the fiasco with Ichabod Jones, I was wary about working with a publisher again. However, I had just finished a book called Gumshoes and the Case of Madison's Father, and I wasn't really interested in learning how to market novels while I had two graphic novels to sell.
My friend had a publishing company and we struck up a conversation about publishing both Gumshoes and a children's book idea called The Little Bird and The Little Worm.
After signing the contract, honestly everything went fine for a while. I received ARC copies of Gumshoes, he went into production and finished my children's book.
I was pretty happy and I thought everything was going okay. I wasn't making any money with that deal, but the book was out, and I didn't have to pay for editorial or a cover.
